Boo-ed
I always think of Mom. This time of year makes me think of her even more. She loved fall. But what I really think about is her experience with being boo-ed. I'm not sure you are all familiar with this tradition. Somebody makes a photo copy of a ghost, then they place a goody on your step with the said ghost and you've been boo-ed. Now that you've been boo-ed you in turn must boo someone else. So one year my mom was boo-ed. Mom was not in the kitchen much she'd rather read a good book or watch a good movie or do some scrapbooking. So she went to the store and got her treat to take to the person she'd chosen to boo. She waited until the cover of dark. The point is to not get caught booing someone. It's like doorbell ditching only you leave a treat. She got her treats all on the plate and the ghost photocopied to take to her neighbor. She went up to the door and rang the doorbell. Then she ran to the back yard to hide from the neighbor. It had been raining that day so needless to say there was a lot of mud. Her shoe stuck in the mud. As she tried to get out of the mud she somehow tripped and her other shoe flew off into the window well of her neighbors basement. She wen't home and was one short one shoe and muddy, only to be greeted by another treat with another ghost on her porch. When she told me this story I laughed so hard. She was embarrassed that she lost her shoe, she never did try to retrieve it. I asked her what she was going to do with the other ghost. She said "I already boo-ed someone I'm not doing that again." Thanks mom for making the booing so memorable.

I love her so much! That's a great story. You should check out the pic I just put on my blog--it's a pretty good one of her.
What a nice tribute to your mom!
love that story!!! I have to wonder what kind of wild stories the lone shoe spawned in that neighbor's family :)
